Anchored VWAP

Anchored VWAP explained: meaning, chart use, interpretation and limitations.

Descriptive, not a guaranteed forecast

What is Anchored VWAP?

Anchored VWAP calculates volume-weighted average price beginning from a user-selected event, swing or date rather than resetting at a fixed session boundary.

Anchored VWAP matters because it gives analysts a consistent way to discuss manual chart annotation and measurement. Drawing tools turn visual observations into explicit levels, slopes, ranges or scenario boundaries.

How to read Anchored VWAP

Read Anchored VWAP together with trend, timeframe, volatility and market context. Its main role is manual chart annotation and measurement, not replacing the underlying price series.

What Anchored VWAP does not tell you

The term should be read as descriptive chart language rather than as a self-contained forecast. Parameter choices, timeframe and data quality can materially change the result.

Use in bonds, rates and macro markets

In rates markets they can be used on yields, spreads and futures, but a drawn level is an analytical annotation rather than an independently observed market variable.

BondStats interpretation rule

Technical chart structures are context, not certainty. BondStats does not present a candlestick, drawing tool, indicator reading or chart pattern as a standalone investment recommendation. Where a concept depends on discretionary anchors or parameter choices, those choices should be made explicit.
