What is Footprint Chart?
Footprint Chart is a financial-chart representation that organizes market observations into a particular visual format. The format determines which features of price, time, range, volume or transactions are emphasized and which are compressed.
Footprint Chart matters because it gives analysts a consistent way to discuss choosing how market data is displayed. Different chart constructions emphasize different features of the same market data and can materially change what a viewer notices first.
How to read Footprint Chart
Use Footprint Chart when its construction matches the question being asked. Compare the same underlying data in another chart type if the chosen representation hides time, range, volume or individual transactions that matter to the analysis.
What Footprint Chart does not tell you
The term should be read as descriptive chart language rather than as a self-contained forecast. A chart type can suppress information as well as reveal it, so conclusions should not depend on a visual transformation that obscures the original observations.
Use in bonds, rates and macro markets
For rates and fixed income, chart selection can be especially important when comparing yield moves, futures activity, spread relationships or intraday market structure. In fragmented OTC bonds, always identify whether the chart uses dealer quotes, reported trades, futures or an exchange-traded proxy.
Technical chart structures are context, not certainty. BondStats does not present a candlestick, drawing tool, indicator reading or chart pattern as a standalone investment recommendation. Where a concept depends on discretionary anchors or parameter choices, those choices should be made explicit.
