Government
Fiscal claims, official debt and public financial assets. Local-government debt is shown only where the official MOF perimeter supports it.
Not another China dashboard. This is a ledger of claims: who owns the asset, who carries the liability, which sector stands between them, and where the accounting border changes the meaning of the number.
Read left to right. The same economic relationship can appear as an asset to one sector and a liability to another. Values below deliberately retain their original currency and observation date; unlike a dashboard, this surface refuses false comparability.
Select a line in the claim graph. The interface will identify the balance-sheet side, economic counterparty, observation date and primary source without forcing incompatible datasets into one total.
The official Flow of Funds framework has five sectors. BondStats opens the financial-institutions sector to expose the PBoC and banking system separately — an analytical view, not a replacement statistical classification.
China’s official Flow of Funds framework groups the economy into non-financial corporations, financial institutions, general government, households and the rest of the world. The interface keeps that institutional logic visible rather than inventing a proprietary sector map.
Fiscal claims, official debt and public financial assets. Local-government debt is shown only where the official MOF perimeter supports it.
The official sector includes the PBoC, commercial and policy banks and other financial institutions. BondStats separates the central bank operationally in the System Map while preserving this official perimeter here.
Non-financial enterprises connect deposits, bank credit, bonds, equity and operating assets across the system.
Deposits are simultaneously household assets and bank liabilities — a simple relationship with system-wide consequences.
SAFE’s IIP records China’s external claims and foreign claims on China, preserving the border in the national ledger.
These guided analytical paths change the lens and surface the accounting relationship behind a macro question. They are deterministic and source-bound: no generated forecast, no hidden score.
This is an educational balance-sheet sensitivity lens. It does not estimate losses or predict policy. The slider only changes the visual intensity of a stylised transmission chain so users can inspect where accounting pressure could travel.
Increase the illustrative pressure and watch which balance-sheet relationships become more relevant. No probability, loss estimate or forecast is produced.
Property wealth and mortgage-linked balance sheets can alter saving and borrowing behaviour.
Loan quality, collateral and credit demand connect property conditions to bank balance sheets.
Developers, suppliers and local entities transmit financing conditions into the real economy.
Land-linked revenue and policy responses can move pressure toward government financing channels.
Dates are part of the data. June IIP, September local debt and December-2025 banking stocks are not merged into a fictional same-day national balance sheet. Downloads preserve source IDs and observation dates. The product is structured around source adapters so newer official observations can replace older records without changing the accounting grammar.

Methodological boundary. China Balance Sheet is a research interface over multiple official accounting datasets, not an official consolidated national balance sheet and not an estimate of national net wealth. Stock, flow, fiscal and international-investment datasets have different scopes. BondStats preserves units, dates and source perimeters and avoids summing incompatible series. The Flow of Funds sector framework is used as the organising grammar; individual displayed positions remain governed by their source dataset.
